About Us
At KAWAC we aim to provide an opportunity to help communities develop while ensuring the comfort of our volunteers. To do this, we undertake targeted programs where volunteers offer essential services that align with their areas of expertise or comfort, be they in hospitals, schools, clinics, orphanages and farm fields. Our volunteers also have the opportunity to experience the diverse culture and tourism sphere of wherever they are placed through authentic experiences for their enjoyment.
At KAWAC, we hold the values of community development very dear to us and we have integrated them in our operations and day-to-day running of the organization.
Community needs development
A community needs assessment is a way of collecting data and surveying stakeholders to understand the needs or gaps in service of a population and the resources and strengths available to meet those needs. Conducting a community needs assessment can help organizations and programs improve their decision-making, resource allocation, stakeholder engagement, and impact. We have devised means of involving various stakeholders in the assessment, such as community members, staff, board, government officials, businesses, and experts. It also provides a five-step process for conducting a community needs assessment, which involves defining the population, gathering data, analyzing the results, reporting on the findings, and creating an action plan.
Special needs, teaching and Childcare
Our Special Needs Resource Support team is composed of Registered Early Childhood Educators and other persons with child-related College/University education such as Child and Youth Workers, Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, and Developmental Service Workers. We promote the belief that every child has the right to high-quality, meaningful childhood experiences that respect diversity, promote healthy development, and allow the child to make contributions as part of a group and the community. We advocate for an inclusive, integrated, and accessible community service system that places children at the center, is responsive to families, and promotes positive outcomes.
Women's Empowerment
Women empowerment is the process of enhancing the ability and agency of women to participate in social, economic, and political spheres and to exercise their rights and freedoms. Women empowerment is essential for achieving gender equality, human development, and social justice. Women empowerment can also benefit the society as a whole by increasing the productivity, diversity, and innovation of various sectors and domains. At KAWAC, we partner with different women-focused organizations to bring more women to the forefront and grow their place in society.
